4 Strokes Are Better

4 strokes are ten times better than 2 strokers, these days more than ever. 4 strokes well exceed the 2 stroke power, especially in torque and overall power.

The four-stroke pulls way harder than a 2 stroke these days... why do you think Kevin Windham was riding one in 2004 and almost beat Reed for the championship? If it weren't for some crashes that Windham suffered, he would have.

End of story 4 strokes are better.

Not To Sure Bout That
by: Anonymous

Most people are going wrong here by comparing the 250 2 stroke with the 450 4 stroke. At the end of the day a 250 should be compared against a 250, fair is fair!

The 450 4 stroke is in a class of its own these days as the 500 2 strokes have now stopped being made. Any 2 stroke rider now has to step down to a 250 and race against the big 450f's. I think it's because of this that the 2 strokes are dying out.

We all know the 500 2 stroke would smoke a 450 4 stroke and a 250 2 stroke would smoke a 250 4 stroke.

I hope the AMA do go ahead with changing the rules and let the 250 2 strokes race with the 250 4 strokes. Then I think we would see a growing number of people jump back to the 2 stroke.

Smokin
by: jeff flick

You must be smoking crack dude! Even if you're comparing a 450 4-stroke to a 250 2-stroke! Yes of course the 4-smoke that has 200 more cc's will have a little more HP but only about 5 to 8 more HP tops as well as a bigger boost in the torque dept.

However lets compare a 250 2-stroke to a 250 4-stroke. The 250 2-stroke will have an easy 10HP advantage plus more torque! I recently rode a friends Husqvarna 300wr that would and did run down and pass a Honda crf-450x and a Yamaha yz-450f. Not to mention my KTM-300xc is not quite as fast as most 450 4-strokes but it has as much torque and can easily keep up with any 4-smoke on hill climbs!

Try riding a newer and bigger 2-stroke if you can hang on and then make another ludicrous comment like that.

GENIUS

This guy's really got it figured out eh? Has he ever even ridden a dirt bike before? And does he even know what displacement is? Most likely not.

Don't Take This The Wrong Way
by: Anonymous

Seriously dude, man it's like you people never rode a real two stroke. C'mon, ok first of all, a two stroke of the same cc as a four creates more horsepower and torque. The power and torque are just so great as "separates" that in the two stroke (as I like to say) "mix", you can't feel the pull over the power.

Sure a four stroke is fun to ride, but only when you learn, a two stroke builds more skill on the track. Examples are, power-sliding. How is a person learning to ride going to learn to power-slide on a four stroke? Well my two stroke taught me that when I didn't want to. But now when I race on hard pack, and the nice wide turn is open, I'm passin four strokes like a dog catches a turtle.

Not to put you down, but you need to ride a bigger two stroke than a 250, like a 500+ then you'll see who's got more pull.

Hmmmm. Ya Reckon?
by: Braden

A 4t is 10 times slower you mean? Yeah they got all this brute force or whatever, at 200 CC more than the next bike they're compared to.

The 450's are HEAVY! Some out weigh my 250 by 50 pounds. Me being a little guy, that makes a difference. Not to mention how often they break and how expensive it is to fix them. Keep listening to the man and buy your 4t. It makes them more money, that's all they care about.

KTM, Maico, Husqvarna, and Aprilla are all we have left. But there is hope! KTM has been working on DFI for they're 2t's! Image that! Then 4t's will be a distant memory!
