About Me & How To Contact Me

Hi fellow rider, I'm Hayden. Thanks for visiting Dirt Bike Tips and Pics!

I was brought up on a farm in West Auckland, New Zealand and fell in love with dirt bikes at the age of 9. The first bike I shared with my brother, was basically a 40cc Briggs & Stratton lawnmower with handle bars. That little toy opened up a world of fascination and excitement! After we destroyed that, we were given an old Vespa by Uncle Les... not exactly a dirt bike I know, but that's how we treated it. A year later the red rocket was cremated after many good times thrashing it through the deer paddocks. A green-tanked, Suzuki road-bike was kindly gifted to us by a friend not long after that, only to be put to rest in it's grave prematurely also.

With the thirst for a real dirt bike ever so strong, my brother bought an '89 RM 125. I'll never forget the exhilarating feeling of the powerband kicking in for the first time while riding through our neighbors vineyard. After working all of my school holidays for the next 2 years, I bought my very own 1991 RM 80 at the age of 14.

I have been riding on and off between travel for the last 18 years, and currently ride most weekends, mainly free riding in sand dunes and hitting MX practice tracks. I love the feeling of being let loose on a track or farm and hitting new jumps I haven't jumped before. I still dream about owning my own property with a motocross track out the back, sitting on the back deck after a ride with a cold one in my hands, watching my mates coat each other in dust... ahhh perfect!

So, with that dream in mind, I've set up this website to earn some additional income while writing about something I am passionate about. My aim is to pass on some tips and advice that I have picked up over the years of riding and offer it to you in the form of a helpful, informative and entertaining dirt bike website. At the same time I like to be able to provide riders from around the world, and of all different levels, a place to interact.

* I place Google Ads on this site to generate income which makes it possible to keep this site moving and grooving (and pay for my riding habit). They're not there to brass you off so please don't be fussed by them.

I also sell advertising space to dirt bike related companies so please show your support by checking these guys out. They can be recognized as banner ads or otherwise under the label 'Useful Sites'.

All of the links, products and companies I recommend on this site are trustworthy and reliable, otherwise I wouldn't put them up. If for some reason you do have problems with any of them please email me so I can contact the company, and if necessary remove the link.

If you want to promote something dirt bike related through my Dirt Bike Blog just send me an email with the details and I'll whip it up. You can also post it on the DBTP Facebook wall.

I really do hope you enjoy what I've put together here. If you have any questions, suggestions, complaints or compliments - fire 'em through! I would love to know how I can improve this site. And if you really have enjoyed browsing through it, please tell me. It's truly satisfying to hear how much you have benefited from Dirt Bike Tips and Pics.

If you want to ask me.. "what dirt bike should I buy? Hold off on contacting me and read this page first."

Keep Riding,

Hayden

Please note that I will not share your email address with any other party. All emails are treated as confidential and I will not bombard you with anything. I will only answer your questions if asked.

I do my best to answer all emails within 2 - 3 days but I'm not always near my computer to do it.. cause I'm probably away riding!
