Direct Injection Retrofit Kits

Envirofit, a non-profit corp at Colorado State University, is installing DI retrofit kits on two-stroke Motorcycle-Taxis (Tricycles) in the Philippines, to fight the terrible air pollution there. I think they are charging about $350 or $400, installed.
That makes me believe that one of the Japanese companies could put out a DI bike for an additional $100, more or less. They wouldn't be throwing away any old parts like those retrofits. They would just be building them a little differently, with a few more parts. Aprilia, Peugeot and Kymco are selling DI scooters. Why can't we get DI in larger engines? The Envirofit retrofits are cleaner than four-strokes with better fuel efficiency. Bring 'em on!
