Dirt Bike Boots And Why You Need 'em
Dirt bike boots are an essential part of riding safety. Your ankles and legs can be placed under enormous amounts of stress and pressure when riding on any terrain.
Unfortunately, even with proper protection, ankles and feet are often shattered or broken after serious accidents... like the time my brother was testing a new jump on a motocross track he had just built. The angle (kicker) of the jump was too steep, which sent him far too high and long. Result? He missed the down-ramp and ended up in hospital with plates and pins in his left ankle. No riding for Limpy for 6 months! If you ride without proper boots though, these types of injuries can occur from minor mishaps, such as catching a leg while cornering through ruts, or hitting a branch with your foot on a bush trail e.t.c... When it comes to buying a new pair of dirt bike boots, make sure they fit your feet correctly and they are comfortable! There's a whole heap of different styles and brands out there. Many have all the 'bells and whistles'. But, if you have feet like a hobbit, and the best looking boots on the rack give you pain or discomfort by placing uneven pressure on your ankles, or the buckles don't tighten up enough to provide a snug fit... don't buy them! You may have to try on a number of different styles before you find the right dirt bike boots for you. Taking the time to do this will pay off though.

- When purchasing from the internet, be sure to try on the exact pair of boots first at a shop to get the right fit. Once you've found the right ones, you can often find them for a cheaper price online.
