KX 85 High Revs & Low Power

Hi there, whenever I change gear (and at pull off) my bike's revs shoot up (like way up) and the bike takes a while to pick up speed. Was wondering if it was the tranny oil I put in making my clutch slip (10w-40 motor oil), the clutch itself, or could it be something else? Thanks.

- Hi Shaun. It sounds to me that your clutch is slipping (like you said). Have you tried adjusting the clutch cable up at the perch? It's a bit of a long shot but it may just need tweaking. Otherwise the clutch plates may be stuck or worn out and will need replacing.

And, yes you need to make sure you're putting the correct transmission oil in as this will affect the way your clutch performs. As long as the oil is designed for wet clutches, you should be ok though - just make sure you use a high quality, off-road motorcycle specific oil.

Hayden -
