Optimum Hybrid Engine

Imagine how light, quiet (Nhrs), small, efficient and low cost a 2 cylinder 2 stroke could be designed to run a hybrid. One with EM motor-drive only and the ICE only providing power to the EM motor and the battery, when less than its full output power is required.
That engine can be optimized for one narrow rpm range, which again helps the simplicity and emissions of the design. The reduced weight of the 2 stroke partially offsets the battery.
4 cyl Atkinson cycle 4 strokes don't look so bright as range extenders in hybrids when small 2 cyl 2 strokes like the e-tec are available.
