2011 KTM 250SX - A beautiful thing

2011 KTM 250SX - A beautiful thing

I was just checking up on the impressive new 2011 KTM range of dirt bikes. Geez those guys are producing some cutting edge weapons! While the big "Japanese Four" have only updated their four stroke motocrossers and are still selling off previous years stock, KTM have supplied us all with a huge range of shiny new 2011 steeds.

KTM seem to be taking huge leaps and strides forward in the off-road motorcycle world and are constantly improving on their previous models. I'm sure most people would agree with me when I say that they are "standing out from the crowd" and producing some of the highest quality competition dirt bikes out there.

That being the case I think this next statement made by KTM themselves carries a huge amount of weight in regards to this whole two stroke vs four stroke thing...

September 2010:

"For years KTM has committed to the development of 2-stroke engines which are an advantage against 4-strokes in many aspects. With an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio, lower cost of acquisition and easy to maintain and service – there is no better choice than a two-stroke.

Anyone want to argue with the manufacturer? It's an interesting world we live in and not everything is as it seems... especially when money and politics are involved.

2011 KTM-300xc
by: Jeff Flick

Everything KJ said about his 2011 KTM-300xc is absolutely correct! The power is perfect for a rider or offroad racer that has been riding for a good while! I just recently bought one in May of this year & it is by far the best dirt bike that I've ever owned.

I also had a very hard time locating a new 300xc to buy & it was actually an internet friend that led me to the shop that had 2 left. To me that was amazing considering I called 15 different shops & they were all sold out!

Anyhow, if I have any complaints with my 2011 KTM-300xc it would be that the suspension is a tad bit on the harsh side yet workable. I'll have my suspension revalved in the near future & then the katoom will be more than perfect!

KTM's are at the top of the dirt bike chain for sure!

2011 KTM 300xc
by: KJ

I think I just bought the last brand new 2011 KTM 300 XC available in this hemisphere. I saw a couple of used 2011s. Asking price was so near the retail that I figured I pay the same after shipping so I got the new one.

To say I am pleased is a complete understatement. This bike rides like a scalded dog! My forearms and hands are aching from trying to hold on. I am not exaggerating. This thing is a beast of a ROCKET!

I love the visible tank. The best change for this year is the six speed gearbox. I can vary the digital ignition with the flip of a handlebar switch.

I had the enduro lights put on which rock. Some carbon fiber and hand savers too. I want to keep it in the house just to look at it. My wife won't let me.

I have always been a 2 smoke guy, but this thing is just off the chain! It comes stock with excel rims. The details are so well thought out. SO easy to get to the airbox, etc. The bike has electric AND kickstart.

Going to West Virginia next month for a week of trail riding. Last dirt bike I will buy for a looong time. I don't deserve this bike, but damn, it is so nice!

- Ha! I can feel your excitement. I want one!

KTM 2 vs 4
by: jim k

I ride the 250 xcfw. Love it love it love it! So nimble and holds a line better than any other bike I've ever ridden. It made me a better rider. That said I rode a friends 250 xcw. It was everything I loved about my bike and then some. The bikes weigh about the same but the missing valve train made the two strokes top end feel very light on the trail. Plus the snap, you know what I'm talking about. I'm getting one. If you decide you want one also get an '09 or '11. KTM made some booboo's in 2010 that robbed power so avoid them if you can.

KTM seems to be on top of the game these days. Not only are they updating their 2-strokes they also just brought out their new fuel injected 350f 4 stroker. And remember last year KTM's 450sx-f won the 450 MX shootout!

My next dirt bike will be the 2011 KTM-300xc 2-stroke for sure. That's if they're not already "SOLD OUT" by March or April.

That's a seriously nice bike. KTM are awesome - the Jap. companies should take notes from their book..
