Two Strokers... RULE

by Brandon Short

I am an avid outdoors person and care about our environment. However, when it comes down to governmental regulation on our 2 strokes and phasing them out over the years, I think it's our given right to choose to ride the types of bikes and engines we so elect to be on.

I've missed a few years of riding while my son has been growing up. He's now three. We went to his first supercross in Michigan this year. Wow, all 4 strokes. Yuck, I miss the humming of the bees.

I remember back as a child myself starting on a 4 stroke, it had it's purpose. My buddy went out and and purchased a YZ80. I loved the adrenaline rush it gave me when it pinned me into my seat. I quickly dropped my bike like a bad habit and purchased an RM80. From there I quickly went up to the 125's which I still prefer. They are light-weight little rockets that you have to keep the throttle open, screaming for the power.

I hope others speak up and the manufacturers continue to make both as options. You choose your bike and I'll choose mine.

Thanks Brandon for your opinion.
I have been receiving a LOT of comments similar to yours.
It seems like there is a huge following for two stroke bikes and there are a lot of people who are upset about them being phased out.
Maybe some clever sod will create a 2 stroke engine that is more environmentally friendly... and they will begin developing and manufacturing them to supply the market demand? Or maybe, with the rise of the 4 stroke bikes, the future does not hold such a thing as a 2 banger and everyone will just have to live with it?
